Ted and I were thrilled to find out we're having a girl. So much fun to buy for a girl and decorate for a girl... It might get a bit out of hand. I'm also thinking that if our boy (eventually hopefully) is as adventurous as Ted was as a child, I'm going to need to be broken in first.
Ted got to see the baby for the first time at this appointment and I think it's really starting to sink in. He is now kissing my stomach (and me) "goodbye" in the mornings.
Here are some of her cameos. The nurse said, "There's her face, isn't she cute?" to which I responded, "I don't know, she looks kind of scary, like a skeleton."
and of course the infamous "it's a girl" shot.
These last few weeks we have started to hope more and more that it's a girl, but we didn't want to be disappointed with a boy. Everyone always says before they know the sex of their baby, "Oh, we don't care if it's a boy or a girl, just as long as it's healthy." Ted and I would like to make a modification to that phrase. For us it would be, "Oh, we don't care if it's a boy or a girl, as long as it's not ugly."
Here's what we don't want our baby to look like.
This is a picture of a baby that was born at Shannon's hospital, Mercy (where we are delivering). The mother sent a thank you note to the nurses and included this picture of her little one. The nurses got such a kick out of it that they posted the picture where they admit patients.
After work on Wednesday we planned a happy hour to celebrate our new news of Boy or Girl. We had our friends & coworkers come wearing either a pink or blue shirt, depending on what they thought it would be. We bought everyone's first drink that got it right (and consolation drinks if they got it wrong). It was a great time.
